In order to promote the construction of a culture of peace through quality education, based on ethical, moral and spiritual principles and values, the University of Medellin signed an agreement with the International Alliance of Universities for Peace (ALIUP) for the development of the Chair for Peace.
The rector of this house of higher studies, Stella Saba Lopez, and the regional coordinator of the GEAP in Antioquia, Yuly Arango Giraldo, met to sign the commitment that provides for the creation and application of the chair.
For the University of Medellín, Specialist in Human Rights and Governance, the International Alliance of Universities for Peace is important; to foster in other institutions a culture of peace based on the recognition of human rights.
This project that runs the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP), through the ALIUP, promotes in universities and higher education centers the inclusion of education in values in the development of professional skills, for the comprehensive training of the human being.
The signing of the agreement was carried out prior to the first Regional Seminar of the ALIUP "Higher education as a tool for peace in post-conflict management in Colombia".
The University of Medellín was founded in1950. It's a private institution that specializes in human rights and governance. It currently has 11,106 students.
