To promote the establishment of an education in values ​​that promotes a culture of peace in society, the Global Embassy of Activist for Peace (GEAP) in Zacatecas, Mexico, held a seminar workshop within the framework of the International Alliance of Universities for Peace (ALIUP).

 

The headquarters of the seminar was the gym of the high performance Campus of the XXI century, of the Autonomous University of Zacatecas (UAZ). This event was attended by the Secretary of Education of Zacatecas (SEDUZAC), National Pedagogical University (UPN), and the Human Rights Commission of the State of Zacatecas (CDHEZ).

The various bodies present supported the initiative to create and develop an International Chair on the Culture of Peace and Universal Values ​​as turning points in training programs of higher education institutions.

Work for peace

The young activist and student of the Academic Unit of Human Medicine of the UAZ, Nancy Rodriguez, said that to achieve peace in humanity, we must work for it.

«I invite you to nurture and strengthen a new culture in society through a seed of peace, to create a natural transformation in a peaceful society», said Rodriguez.

On the other hand, the president of the Association of Universities of the Dominican Republic, Ricardo Winter, emphasized the values ​​and practices of professional competences based on the awareness of the inclusion of the Chair on Integral Peace in the teachings of future generations.

In this sense, Winter says that the main objective is to train generations of conscious professionals, who contribute to a better society.

Participation agreement

To end the event, the Autonomous University of Zacatecas (UAZ) signed a collaboration agreement joining ALIUP, in order to build a culture of peace through quality education oriented to the development of professional skills based on principles and universal values.

The director of the State Center for the Prevention of Crime and Citizen Participation in the state of Zacatecas, Armando García Neri, and the state coordinator of the National Program for School Coexistence, Clara Verónica Delgado, were among the personalities present during the signing of the agreement.

With the presentation of awards by the GEAP to members of the presidium, the seminar was finalized, laying the foundations to promote the appreciation of peace as a universal value.
