In Panama, positive developments in voluntary blood donations: National Awareness in Panama in the 4th International Blood Drive Marathon

The Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP) in Panama, managed to raise awareness in important cities from the interior of this country to integrate them in the activities of the 4th International Blood Drive Marathon: Santiago, Las Tablas, Chitré, David and Aguadulce. Along with the work carried out in the capital, Panama City, where a total of 326 effective blood units were obtained.

One of the objectives of these international marathons organized by the GEAP is to promote a culture of voluntary and regular safe blood donation, allowing for a timely supply in emergencies or when needed for a patient.  

The Global Embassy of Activists for Peace has achieved that the National Blood Program of the Ministry of Health of Panama, thanks to nearly two years of work, join these activities, taking educational activities on these acts of social responsibility to different places, to achieve that Panamanians citizens, and especially the youth, actively participate in the Marathons. They have become the captive audience for this noble cause.

The 4th International Blood Drive Marathon in Panama, this time, carried out 20 collections, 499 volunteers were call and 326 effective blood units were obtained, mainly in different universities of this country.

Previous calls, accompanied by educational lectures and counseling in health, are part of the activities carried out for recruiting blood donors, which have managed to increase the numbers to benefit hundreds of patients that need it.
