“These activities of blood donation, for us as a hospital and blood bank, are very important; because with it we achieve the capacity of blood units that are going to be of use to us to respond to those patients who cannot bring their donor."

With these words the head of the blood bank of San Juan de Dios National Hospital in the city of San Miguel in El Salvador, stressed the importance of sowing a culture of regular and altruistic blood donation in a country that has been affected by violence for decades.

Volunteers of the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace in El Salvador, along with national hospitals and the Red Cross, joined this International Drive carrying out six blood drives during the month of April in the departments of La Union, San Miguel, Usulután, Cabañas, La Paz, Sonsonate and San Salvador.

Likewise, the media supported the outreach and coverage of this campaign, bringing a message of awareness to youth and adults to donate blood as often as they can.
