Ecuador exceeded the established goal, achieving 1,121 units of blood
For the month of April, the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace assembled the 3rd International Blood Drive. On this occasion, 20 countries joined this campaign in order to create, in their fellow citizens, a culture of voluntary and habitual blood donation.
The voluntary activists in Ecuador, in coordination with the Ecuadorian Red Cross, developed events in the cities of Quito, Guayaquil, Riobamba and El Coca, on April 24, 25 and 26, and May 2, 2014, respectively; obtaining 1,121 effective blood pints.
Illustrious visitors were also present at the event: the Ambassador of Israel, Mr. Eliyahu Yerushalmi, accompanied by his wife, the presence of members of the National Police, the Metropolitan Police, public and private employees, students, and a large number of people who made the decision to actively and willingly participate in this entirely altruistic event.
The media also provided coverage: Ecuador TV, Ecuavisa, Channel One TV; radio stations: Huancavilca, Super K, Atalaya, Eagle, Santiago and America, among others. In addition, media that arrived at the scene of the campaign to broadcast this event which attracted the interest of local and foreign people.
The act of giving blood can create a bond between people from different countries, joining in solidarity, in order to improve the quality of life for millions of patients, having a safe and stocked inventory of blood.
