Nicaragua carried out actions for a sustainable environmental future during World Environment Day
Around 1,200 students from the “Cristobal Rugama” school were lectured on environmental protection.
The Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP), during World Environment Day, celebrated on June 5th. The Guardians for the Peace of Mother Earth promoted educational lectures in schools in the cities of Chinandega and Masaya in Nicaragua, highlighting the 5R’s (Recycle, Reduce, Reuse, Reject and Reeducate) as environmental values.
They reached 1,200 Elementary and Middle School students in the “Cristobal Rugama” Public Institute in Masaya, and at the Instituto Politecnico España in Chinandega, the Guardians presented expositions on environmental protection, as well as raising awareness in those present on the damage that human beings have generated on Mother Earth.
Through the story of Flori and Espin, cartoon characters that belong to the vegetable kingdom (educational strategy that the GEAP uses, aimed specifically towards elementary school students to teach them how to take care of the environment), the Activists for Peace promoted the formation of environmental values among the Nicaraguans.
During the activities, the Universal Declaration of the Rights of Mother Earth, a proposal of the GEAP, was presented, inviting the participants to join and support this proposal with their digital signature. (See here)
The directors and academic personnel of both schools made a commitment to continue promoting environmental formation, as well as restoration actions for a sustainable future in harmony with Mother Earth.
