Indigenous peoples attend GEAP consultation meetings

Representatives of the indigenous communities of Argentina attended the consultation meetings convened by the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP), through the Children of Mother Earth Program, in the provinces of Salta, Jujuy and Córdoba, during December 13, 14 and 16, for the execution of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Meeting of Consultation with the indigenous peoples of the country.

During the meetings, a summary was given of the proposals that emerged in the Meetings of the Children of Mother Earth, held in Argentina. Likewise, the Inter-American Environmental Charter and the Joint Declaration between the Indigenous Peoples of Salta and the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace were read.

The present caciques signed a document authorizing the GEAP to socialize and make known to different international organizations the proposals of the indigenous peoples of the Americas.

2nd Consultation Meeting

On December 13, in the Department of Professor Salvador Mazza of the province of Salta, GEAP volunteers held the 2nd Meeting of the Consultation with the indigenous peoples in the La Pista community, which is headed by cacica Gladis Vaca, representative of the Guaraní people.

This meeting was attended by 19 members from the Guaraní peoples, Tapieté, Ava Guaraní, Wichi and GEAP representatives Andrea Cardozo and Erika Correa. (See: List of leaders of the indigenous communities that attended the 2nd Meeting Consultation of indigenous peoples)

 

3rd Consultation Meeting

In the Tourism Hotel of Tilcara of the province of Jujuy, the GEAP summoned volunteers and leaders of the Indigenous Peoples to the 3rd Consultation Meeting.

The event was attended by referents, caciques and women of the Coya, Atacama, Omaguaca, Thoara, Fiscara people and a representative of the Diaguita people of the province of Tucumán. (See: List of leaders of indigenous communities who attended the 3rd Consultation meeting of indigenous peoples)

During the meeting, the proposals that representatives of indigenous peoples presented at the 5th Meeting of the Children of Mother Earth held in the province of Jujuy were read.

4th Consultation Meeting

On December 16, the 4th Consultation Meeting of Indigenous Peoples was held in the hall of the Municipal Community Radio of San Esteban, Punilla Department, province of Córdoba.

Leaders from the indigenous peoples of Comechingón, Sanavirón and Ranquel participated in this meeting and attended the 3rd Regional Meeting of the Children of Mother Earth held in the province of San Luis. The meeting began with words of welcome from GEAP representatives Mario Gabriel Veliz and Jessica Rojas. Community Radio of San Esteban

The regional coordinator of the GEAP, Mario Gabriel Veliz, and the Navira Julia Marta Ceballos, from the town Comechingón, were invited by the director of the Municipal Community Radio San Esteban, Alberto Funes, to participate in an interview, with the aim of making know the results of this 4th meeting.
