The GEAP participates in a Community and Health marathon
Through the promotion of blood donation, PEC-VIDA seeks to generate a voluntary, altruist and regular culture.
The Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP), on May 26, attended the invitation given by the Commission of Human Rights of the State of Mexico, to join the Community and Health marathon carried out at the terrace of the San Mateo Atenco town in the State of Mexico.
The Communicational Educational Program “Life is in the Blood” (PEC-VIDA), for the formation of a voluntary, altruist and regular blood donation culture, is the mechanism used by the GEAP to stimulate the solidary act of donating blood before the constant need of safe and immediate blood.
Blood demand surpasses 600 daily units, only in the State of Mexico, therefore it is necessary to have the same amount of daily blood donors.
Dr. William Soto Santiago says that:
“Everyone carries in their heart the desire of living and helping others live; and in their veins there is the way to do it”.
By invoking this feeling of solidarity, the activists of the GEAP promoted the formation of a voluntary, regular and altruist culture of blood donation culture, through informative flyers and different activities, in this Health Marathon.
The reflection of this desire to help, the social compromise, and awareness on the necessity of this vital liquid in the State of Mexico, was seen in the citizens of San Mateo.
This desire was also manifested in the authorities, who committed to hold constant voluntary blood drives to maintain the blood banks stocked.
Baruch F. Delgado Carbajal, President of the Commission of Human Rights of the State of Mexico (CODHEM), said:
“It is the authorities’ obligation to promote and advertise human rights so that citizens know them and make them count”.
And one of these rights are, as the WHO manifests:
“The highest reachable enjoyment in health is one of the fundamental rights of all human beings.”
