Deputy Minister of Labor of Panama spoke about sustainable development

The Session: Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for Sustainable Development, of the Peace Integration Summit, CUMIPAZ 2017, counted with the participation of the Deputy Minister of Work and Labor Development of Panama, Zulphy Santamaría.
In the event, held at the headquarters of the Latin American Parliament, the vice minister spoke about the development and adaptation of systems and legislation of the Ministry of Labor to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
"For us (the Ministry) the issue of social peace is very important, and it is our way of declaring or manifesting our social responsibility," she said.
Santamaría explained that the agency works directly with companies because they believe that there must be a fluid communication, a dialogue between employers, unions, representatives of workers and the Government.
She stressed that this relationship with companies or industries has been strengthened in different employment fairs, promoted by the Ministry and other entities. She assured that this work has contributed to the decrease of almost 40% of informal work in Panama.
Santamaría commented on the complexity of joining the needs of the job seeker to get a decent job, and the need for the employer to be able to get a qualified workforce to fill vacancies. She indicated that reaching agreements in this area will allow a more effective contribution to sustainable development.
