Chile celebrated Earth Hour 2016

Chile

In defense of Mother Earth, Chileans responded to the call made by the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) which had a record participation in 178 countries.

With the objective of promoting public participation and facing climate change, the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP) in Chile, on March 19, 2016, celebrated the largest environmental movement in history “Earth Hour 2016”, which aims to defend Mother Earth from the damaging effects that have altered the composition of the atmosphere around the world.

The Activists for Peace in Santiago, Calama, La Serena, Antofagasta, Copiapo, Curico, Talca, Quilpue and Puerto Montt, emotionally joined millions of people and turned off their lights and lighted candles during 60 minutes in their homes or place of reunion, showing that by small actions we can stop various daily activities that are affecting the environment.

Chileans work is based on one of the objectives of the International Program “Children of Mother Earth”, that assures a sustainable and renewable future, encouraging a sustainable culture of green citizens, in harmony with Mother Earth.
