202 volunteers participated in the International Campaign "Life is in the Blood: Donating the Sap of Life", held on April 6 and 7, at Plaza Las Américas in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The blood drive organized by the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP) together with the Mutual Services Blood Bank collected 160 effective blood units and also sensitized 143 people, who assumed the commitment to become voluntary donors.
The units of blood collected were distributed in hospitals on the island, benefiting more than 300 patients who need this vital liquid.
The supervisor of the mobile unit of the Blood Bank, Carolen Matos, indicated that the blood types O Rh+ and O Rh- are the most needed,
The GEAP carries out this campaign to promote a voluntary, altruistic and habitual culture of safe blood donation in society and contributes to the supply of health centers for a greater guarantee of life.
