Life is in the Blood: Encourages a culture of blood donation
In the framework of the 9th International Marathon “Life is in the Blood”, the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP) in Tabasco, Mexico, carried out awareness marathons in the municipalities Jonuta and Nacajuca, during March.
The talks were carried out with the purpose of fomenting a voluntary, altruist and regular blood donation culture to maintain stocked the blood banks, contributing peace and happiness to those who need this vital liquid.
Municipality Jonuta
Institutions and habitants of Jonuta joined to the campaign with the purpose of giving a voluntarily contribution to society; action which guarantees the stocking of safe blood to the health centers. Participants of the marathon:
92 students and 2 professors of the Centro Bachillerato Tecnológico Agropecuario Nº 144.
78 students and 10 professors of the Colegio de Bachilleres de Tabasco Plantel Nº 46.
13 students and 1 professor of the Centro de Educación a Distancia de la Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco.

50 people from the Hospital Comunitario de Jonuta “Dr. Arcenio Filigrana Zubieta” Hospital. The sub chief of the hospital, the labs chief, social workers, Nurse department, Psychology Department, pharmaceutical area and citizens in general.
Municipality Nacajuca
In the main auditorium of the Nacajuca, Tabasco Council, on March 8 and 31 was implemented the Communicational Educative Program (PEC VIDA), which covers the areas: family, community, educational and organizational.
The event had more than 130 assistants; among them, Francisco Lopez, municipal president; Jonas Colorado, in representation of the Jefatura Jurisdiccional; Adelina Lopez, Public Health coordinator; Maria Jimenez, delegate of Jurisdiction, among others.
Jonas Colorado, representative of the Jefatura Jurisdiccional said:
“A voluntary donor is that person who through their own decision says: “I agree”, “I am convinced that I am going to donate blood”. He has to have will, tolerance, love, humility; and tolerance is part of will”, he concluded.
In this way, communities, institutions and young Tabasco college students joined a peace culture founded in the principle of love for life, solidarity, respect for human dignity, the enhancing of the quality of life, social justice, peace and the integral happiness of the human family.
