Save the Earth! International Environmental Proclamation

Earth Day was the occasion for thousands of people in more than 20 countries to acknowledge their responsibility for the care and restoration of the common heritage of humanity: Mother Earth.

During the celebration, the Proclamation of Constitution of the Rights of Mother Earth was read in the middle of diverse activities that included environmental stops, forums, parades, recovery of natural spaces, among others.

The Proclamation promotes the worldwide recognition of Mother Earth as a living being and its inalienable rights, it constitutes an inclusive tool that is in harmony with human principles and values. 

"Humans, as the only species that can act by reflection and choice, are the guardians and defenders of Mother Earth." (Art.16)

Two other environmental proposals focused on environmental governance and justice were also made public: the Inter-American Environmental Charter and the International Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Ecocide.



The international movement was led by the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP) under the Children of Mother Earth Program, in conjunction with local governments, environmental protection agencies, educational institutions and ecological groups, with the call: Save the Earth!

The environmental proposals of GEAP seek to involve all citizens in the protection of the ecological balance and environmental legal rights of Mother Earth.

2,603 ​​Argentines participate in environmental awareness campaign

In Argentina, there was a massive participation during the celebration, peace activists, departmental authorities, indigenous leaders, academics, students and citizens in general joined in the environmental awareness campaign that included the Proclamation of the Rights of Mother Earth

The events took place in six departments of the country involving a total of 2,603 ​​citizens. One of the activities was developed in the Honorable Council of the City of Olavarria.

Parades and environmental fairs in Bolivia

To celebrate the anniversary in Bolivia, peace activists toured main avenues of the country and deployed environmental fairs in public areas and educational institutions.

In five departments the Proclamation of the Rights of Mother Earth was announced; municipal environmental protection agencies, students from educational units and universities, environmental groups and citizens in general participated in the activities.

Brazilian voices declare themselves guardians of Mother Earth

In Brazil, the GEAP carried out an environmental activity in an educational center in São Paulo to celebrate Earth Day and Indian Day. With the voice reading of the first three articles of the Environmental Proclamation, 511 students from the student community joined the Guardians for Mother Earth movement.

Call of attention in Ecuador

In order to promote the preservation of the Earth as an inheritance of humanity, GEAP volunteers in Ecuador appealed to the general public to promote practices that preserve the ecological balance.

Representatives of the Ministry of Environment, municipal governments, indigenous communities, the National Police and the Animal Protection Organization, gave their signature in support of the Proclamation of Constitution of the Rights of Mother Earth.

Mexicans sign in support of environmental proposal

The socialization days of the Proclamation in Mexico covered seven states, carried out in civil associations, nongovernmental organizations, public and private sector; the activities included planting trees, educational talks and environmental fairs, also held events in the country's natural reserves.

The environmental proposal obtained the support of authorities and citizens through the signing of adhesion to the document.

In Paraguay, 2100 students receive the Proclamation

In three departments of the Paraguayan Republic the activities for Earth Day were realized; the GEAP celebrated in union with municipal governments, environmental protection agencies and educational institutions.

Puerto Ricans honor Mother Earth

The celebration in Puerto Rico was held in public areas of the municipality of Caguas. The Proclamation was delivered to Deputy Mayor Lydia Rivera, who promised to work for the recognition of Mother Earth as a living being and the defense of her rights.

In the environmental day, educational modules were installed to promote environmental values ​​and actions aimed at protecting and restoring the Earth; cultural activities were also carried out which included plays.

Dominicans celebrated in natural heritage

In the Dominican Republic peace activists celebrated Earth Day at the Mirador Sur ecological park, where they promoted the care and preservation of the environment through the socialization of the Environmental Proclamation.

Another activity was carried out in an educational institution of the country where more than 200 people took part in the Fair for Peace of Mother Earth

Uruguayans join the environmental movement of GEAP

Citizens of Uruguay receive environmental education with an emphasis on environmental values ​​during the celebration of Earth Day. The guardians for the peace of Mother Earth developed the environmental fairs along with a campaign in the media to involve the community of Artigas.

Together with the reading of the Environmental Proclamation, GEAP promoted the digital signature for the defense of the rights of Mother Earth. Activists from Argentina participated in the activities.
