President of the Supreme Court of Justice participates in CUMIPAZ
See GalleryJosé Ayú Prado Canals, President of the Supreme Court of Justice of Panama, participated in the ceremony to open the Justice and Democracy Session of CUMIPAZ 2017, held in the Hemicycle of the Latin American Parliament in Panama City.
He began his speech with the questions: How can we reconcile justice, democracy and peace? Can there be peace without justice? Can there be democracy without justice? Can there be justice without democracy? He said: "Everything is intertwined, sometimes they will be a means, but other times they will be ends."
He added that justice is to give each one his due; democracy seeks the welfare of all citizens; and peace is the absence of conflict.
For the president of the Supreme Court of Justice, it is important to protect legal assets, ethnicities, political groups, Mother Earth and the public treasury.
