Mexico | University students participate in blood drives

The Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP) in Mexico, in coordination with the State Center for Blood Transfusion (CETS), held blood drives at the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon (UANL) as part of the Comprehensive Program "Life is in the Blood".

The objective of this program is to contribute to the formation of a culture of voluntary, altruistic and regular donation of safe blood, in order to increase the active and effective participation of the citizens, in order to guarantee the supply of blood and its components to all people that require it.

The sessions were held from September 8 to 29 with the participation of the directors of the educational institution, Aurora Lee, director of the CETS, students and volunteers of the GEAP.

Love for life

The event began with awareness-raising talks to promote the principle of love and the universal values of the human family, so that blood donation is conceived as a voluntary, solidary, civic, altruistic, responsible and regular act.

A large part of the student community joined this work spontaneously, students from different faculties were registered and donated blood.

 

Results of the days

  • September 10: Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (FIME), 150 records and 81 effective blood units.
  • September 13: School of Civil Engineering (FIC) of the UANL, 46 records and 29 effective blood units.
  • September 18 and 19: Faculty of Political Science and International Relations (FACP and RI) of the UANL, 128 records and 72 effective blood units.

To close the cycle of donations in September that reached a total of 182 effective units, on the 29th, young people from the Faculty of Communication Sciences (FCC) in the company of its coordinator, Francisco Gerardo Valdez, participated in this altruistic work.
