Municipal Decentralized Autonomous Governments of Puerto Quito, Santo Domingo, Quinsaloma and Francisco de Orellana of Ecuador, approved four resolutions in support of the Proclamation of the Constitution of the Rights of Mother Earth, proposal promoted by the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP) before the Organization of American States (OAS).
From June 22 to July 4, peace activists met with municipal authorities to present the
International Program Children of Mother Earth, whose main purpose is to globally recognize
Mother Earth as a living being subject to inalienable rights.
Likewise, ethical-legal documents for the protection of Mother Earth were socialized. The events that brought together 26 Ecuadorian citizens were attended by:
• Mauricio Vera Ayora, general secretary of the Municipal Decentralized Autonomous Government of the Canton of Puerto Quito.
• The mayor of Quinsaloma, Braulio Manobanda, as well as Deputy Mayor Darwin Macías and representatives of the municipal council..
• Anita Rivas, mayor of the Municipal Decentralized Autonomous Government of Francisco de Orellana.
• The Mayor of the Municipal Decentralized Autonomous Government of Santo Domingo canton, Víctor Manuel Quiroga and Deputy Mayor Raúl Quezada.
The representatives of the different town halls together with the councilors, members of the Department of the Environment and the departmental directors, formally adopted the Proclamation of the Constitution of the Rights of Mother Earth, a document that discloses and promotes the recognition of Mother Earth as a living being.
