Celebration and awareness: International Mother Earth Day
As part of the celebration of International Mother Earth Day (April 22), the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP) carried out, in different states of Mexico, awareness activities for the love of the planet and its recognition as a living being, with rights.
Activists from Nuevo León attended the 6th edition of the Mother Earth festival at the facilities of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics (FMVZ) of the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon (UANL) where they collected 80 signatures from students and teachers supporting the Proclamation of the Constitution of the Rights of the planet.
The event led to the presentation of five environmental proposals and the exhibition of sculptures, paintings of animals, guided tours of the moringa cultivation fields, the tomato nursery and the protected agricultural center of the UANL.
The activity was attended by Gustavo Moreno, director of the FMVZ; Diana Zamora, deputy director of Planning and Liaison of the FMVZ; Sylvia Cervantes, representative of Oikos "for a sustainable planet" and Rogelio Carrera, head of the Department of Wildlife of the FMVZ.
Also attending: Alfonso Martínez, from the Citizen Observatory of Air Quality in the Metropolitan Area of Monterrey; Jerónimo Chávez, of the Royal Mail of the Monarch Butterfly; Engineer Rocío Treviño, and Marisol Pulido, with a musical participation.
An environmental week
The student community of the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Prepa Tec campus Eugenio Garza Lagüera invited the Guardians for the Peace of Mother Earth, made up of young activists for peace, to the celebration of the Environmental Week "GO-GREEN Expo". The young activists invited the students to join this ecological movement.
In the city of Puebla, more than 100 activists attended the emblematic Fuertes de Loreto, where there were dynamics, such as: hugging a tree and walking barefoot on the land. It ended with a walk of environmental awareness.
On the other hand, in Villahermosa, Tabasco, 75 people from 22 different families came together to plant 21 timber trees. The activity was directed by Gabriel Hidalgo, regional coordinator of the GEAP in Tabasco in conjunction with the Guardians for the Peace of Mother Earth.

Actions for the peace of the planet
In the H. City Hall of Comapa, Veracruz, a talk was given on the 5Rs of recycling: reuse, reduce, reject, recycle and re-educate, carried out in the municipal court, with the assistance of the City Council staff and various educational establishments. In addition, the main streets of the city were cleaned.
In Xalapa, Veracruz, a Mother Earth Peace Fair was held with the students of the Accounting and Administration School. Rector Jerónimo Ricardez and 139 students attended the fair which ended with the planting of trees.
Gratitude to Mother Earth
Different organizations of the Citizen Network for Sustainability Yucatán together with the GEAP met in the Mejorada Park, located in the historic center of the City of Merida, Capital of Yucatan, to celebrate the International Mother Earth Day, through a Mayan gratitude ceremony.
The International Children of Mother Earth Program was presented and educational games made of recyclable material with the purpose of raising awareness among the children present.
In Tizimín, Yucatán, members of the GEAP met with Jorge Vales, municipal president and members of the council. The 5 proposals for the Peace of Mother Earth, promoted by the GEAP, were presented, emphasizing the Proclamation of the Constitution for their rights.
