Artigas: the GEAP recognizes the altruist work of the blood donors
World Blood Donor Day
The Artigas Luis Eduardo Juan Hospital was the site for the celebration of World Blood Donor Day, with a marathon carried out by the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP) of Uruguay in coordination with this health center.
The activity was developed with the purpose of highlighting the work of voluntary and regular blood donors, and allowed the participants to endorse their compromise with society.
The blood drive took place in the Gremial Medica (Gremeda) Blood Bank. In the same way, the volunteers of the GEAP delivered to the assistants brochures with information about the benefits of donating blood and the importance of this vital liquid in emergency times.
Altruist work
As part of the celebration, two voluntary donors received a certificate in recognition of their altruist work, which identifies them as “anonymous heroes that save the lives of other people by donating blood”.
The Activists for Peace carried out the drive under the Integral Program: Life is in the Blood, which aims to contribute to the formation of a voluntary, altruist and regular safe blood donation culture, to increase the active and efficient participation of the citizens.
In the same way, it promotes the principle of love and the universal values through this solidary, civic and responsible act which guarantees the wellbeing of the human family.
