Another Panamanian university joins the International Alliance of Universities for PeaceGlobal Embassy of Activists for Peace

Academic director and GEAP's national coordinator signed the agreement

The Universidad Tecnológica OITEMA in Panama, joined the (ALIUP). On July 20th, it signed the agreement for the development of an educational program that promotes the formation in Human Rights, universal values and principles for the higher studies.

OITEMA is the 5th Panamanian university that joins this inter-institutional alliance, launched by the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP) and formed by various universities, faculties, careers, ministries of education, scholars, and accreditation agencies, also national and international regulatory authorities of higher education.

Dr. Nixa Gnaegi de Ríos, rector of the institution and Mr. Ariel Cerrud, GEAP's national coordinator, signed the collaboration agreement for the development of ALIUP's educational plan, through the sharing of ideals and projects for the strengthening of university extension and today's role of education. 

The event was also attended by Dr. Sonia Aguirre, dean; and Dr. Rocío Kukler, Secretary-General as volunteers.

Mr. Cerrud emphasized the importance that more universities can become active allies of the ALIUP to work in the shaping and establishment of a Chair for Peace. (See: ALIUP objectives)

The Universidad OITEMA, shares this project for a peace education. The institution has among its objectives to disseminate and reinforce the ideals of peace, progress, social justice, and of respect for human rights in order to create a collective awareness values-based.

The Global Embassy of the Activists for Peace, in Panama has been holding various events for the promotion and socialization of the ALIUP, among these, International Seminar I "Challenges of Higher Education in the Human Development and Society'', held in the UMECIT. Other universities that joined the ALIUP in Panama: Santander University signs their commitment to provide the Chair for Peace of the ALIUP.
