Activists for peace carry out blood drives in Monterrey
With the implementation of the Communicational Education Program, the figures of voluntary donors increase
The Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP) in Monterrey, Mexico, on April 8, 11 and 12, 2016, within the framework of the Integral Program “Life is in the Blood” held awareness and registration in different branches of the company Home Depot and in the University of the Valley of Mexico (UVM) and Campus Monterrey Norte.
Company personnel, students, volunteers and Activists for Peace, attended to support the work carried out by the GEAP. The activities began on April 8 at the Nogalar branch of Home Depot. On April 11, it continued at the Santa Catarina branch, and finally on April 12 at Home Depot Sucursal Revolución and at UVM.
In the UVM on April 11 and 12 a total of 222 records were reached, and in the branches of Home Depot 275. The objective of this action is to have a database that allows to maintain a contact with the voluntary and regular donors, and inform them about the Marathons that the GEAP carries out at the national level.
On April 13, the blood drives began at the University of Valle de México and at the Home Depot company, as part of the 7th International Marathon “Life is in the Blood”. The journey through life was carried out by the GEAP in conjunction with the State Center for Blood Transfusion.
The GEAP volunteers, from April 13 to 15, obtained: 106 effective blood units in the UVM, and in the Home Depot branches, 33 registries and 20 effective units.
With a total of 530 registries and 126 effective units of safe blood, the Activists for Peace, through the implementation of the Communicational Educational Program for the formation of a culture of voluntary, altruistic and regular donation of safe blood (PEC LIFE), increase the number of voluntary donors in the country.
