Good morning, cordial greeting to the president of the Congress of Guatemala, honorable Alvaro Arzú Escobar; Dr. James Lambert, secretary of hemispheric affairs of the OAS; distinguished authorities who are with us today: Good morning, and everyone is welcome once again, and this time, the Policy, Diplomatic and Parliamentary Session.

From the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace, we believe that peace is the reason of being of human beings, and happiness its inherent and inalienable right; and to achieve it, two fundamental aspects are needed in our leaders, which are each one of you: love for your fellow man and political will.

All social actors recognize and share the desire to build peace, to end poverty, discrimination, intolerance; agree on the need to provide access to quality education, public health, economic development, a healthy environment and good nutrition; but it is the political class that has a leading role in the achievement of these objectives.

The construction of peace is a continuous, dynamic, creative process that requires the sum of commitments and wills. The presence of each one of you in the Diplomatic, Parliamentary and Policy Session, esteemed leaders, fills us with joy, hope and multiple ways to continue working for the integral happiness of the human being and Mother Earth.

I want to leave with you some opening words to the Diplomatic, Parliamentary and Policy Session, from our president, Dr. William Soto Santiago, who for health reasons could not be present, but who will lead the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace. Thank you.
