Spain

Volunteers of the Global Embassy of Peace for Activists (GEAP) in Spain, took part in the 5th International Blood Drive Marathon called "Life is in the Blood", where many countries have participated in making a difference by contributing towards a culture of peace and solidarity with fellow citizens.

Health activities took place in hospitals, festivals and fairs throughout the cities of Madrid, Barcelona and Tarragona, through mobile units located around those towns. The Bellvitge de L'Hospitalet de Llobregat Hospital was one of the places where volunteers carried out various blood drives for ten days during the International Marathon which was carried out by means of hard work, raising awareness in the student community, in universities, sport centers and the general public, to educate on the importance of voluntary, habitual and safe blood donation.

The support of institutions and participants, along with the "Banc de Sang I Teixits" during the 5th International Blood Drive Marathon, thanks to the work carried out by the GEAP, achieved a successful recollection of 4,300 effective blood units, which prevail in sowing a culture of peace for the benefit of Spanish citizens and every country that welcomes and participates in this health campaign held twice a year by the GEAP.
