School and community take part in environmental fairs
The Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP) in the Dominican Republic, with the installation of the Fairs for the Peace of Mother Earth, in the provinces of Santo Domingo and Puerto Plata, celebrated the World Environmental Education Day.
The Activists for Peace visited educational centers and a community with the objective of promoting citizen participation in all areas by taking actions aimed at the preservation and protection of the life of every living being and of Mother Earth.
The events were developed around the following themes: Our Mother Earth is a living being; The International Program Children of Mother Earth; the 5R's (Recycle, Reduce, Reuse, Reject, Reeducate); Environmental Movement “Guardians for the Peace of Mother Earth”; and the exhibition: “I love you, Mother Earth”.
Puerto Plata
The first fair was held in Imbert city, Puerto Plata province, on February 24. The five educational modules were installed in Plaza Sánchez, where more than 255 people from Colegio Girasol and the Juan N. Ravelo School, received the awareness talks.
The exhibition, I love you, Mother Earth was in charge of children from Girasol Kindergarten, who, through their artistic creations, expressed their love for Mother Earth.
Community participation
With the support of the neighborhood's council from sector Luis Manuel Caraballo, Santo Domingo Norte city, on February 25th
the fair was held in this sector, with the participation of more than 40 residents of this community.
In a dynamic and participatory manner, the Activists integrated kids and adults, who received significant education based on the recognition of Mother Earth as a living being.
Santo Domingo
On March 1st, more than 500 students from Liceo General Gregorio Luperón, from the city of Pedro Brand, attended the lectures given by GEAP volunteers on the environmental values.
Likewise, the universal recognition of our Mother Earth as a living being and the proposal from the executive president of the GEAP, Dr. William Soto Santiago, about the Universal Proclamation of the Rights of Mother Earth were promoted.
