It's everybody's job! Activists invite citizens to take care of the seas
International Coastal Cleanup Day
With the support of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of the Dominican Republic, the Guardians for the Peace of Mother Earth in Santo Domingo and Puerto Plata joined the celebration of the International Coastal Cleanup Day.
The activity was carried out with the objective of avoiding the contamination of the oceans and protecting the ecosystems that they harbor. During the clean-up days, activists invited citizens to take care of the seas.
Schools, government agencies, companies, and volunteers of the GEAP, visited two beaches where they collected plastics, glass, algae, cardboard, and other waste, which were classified according to the instructions of the Ministry.
Güibia beach. In Santo Domingo, the activists visited the beach Güibia, where they cleaned with the personnel of the Ministry of the Environment, Civil Defense, Bancamerica, New Horizons School, members of the Naval Academy, among others.
Through this action, they made an urgent call to the Dominican population to care for and respect the natural resources of Mother Earth.
Playa Grande Luperón. In the province of the North-Cibao region of Puerto Plata, the guards showed up at the Grande Luperón beach with the aim of raising awareness among citizens about the pollution of the seas, and the importance of taking actions to keep the area clean.
