In order to contribute to the construction of a culture of peace through quality education based on principles and values, the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP) in Colombia signed a cooperation agreement with two higher education centers in the cities of Cartagena and Caquetá.

The GEAP promotes peace in the integral human being and among nations as a good for the development of professional skills, in higher education centers, through the International Alliance for Peace (ALIUP).

The cooperation agreements promote a network of academic, scientific and cultural exchange among the institutions and professionals of higher education that develop projects and campaigns aimed at the promotion of peace, education for sustainable development and the happiness of the human family.

The first agreement was formalized on May 17 at the facilities of the Higher Education Institution of Bolívar (ITCMB) with the presence of the rector, Carmen Alvarado Utria; the ALIUP regional coordinator, Ever Vergara, and David Peluffo, regional coordinator of the GEAP.

 

The rector, Carmen Alvarado, said that it is important to be part of the ALIUP, especially under the framework of the internationalization process carried out by the house of studies, and through this agreement consolidate a culture of peace. The alliance establishes the promotion of projects and campaigns for sustainable development education.

 

National Unified Corporation of Higher Education

Likewise, on May 23, in the Caquetá region, an agreement was signed with the Unified National Corporation of Higher Education (CUN) in Florence, signed by its director Ariadna García Penna. The agreement allowed the execution of the programs: "Educating to Remember" and "Life is in the Blood".

 

On May 26, the university forum was held: Educating to Remember "The Holocaust, Paradigm of Genocide", in the auditorium of the CUN; and as part of the project "Traces to Remember" the plaque of the Holocaust survivor, Helmunt Levy, was exhibited. This event was attended by 100 people, including SENA apprentices, instructors, teachers and the general public.

At the same time, the first blood drive was coordinated in this academic campus. Peace activists promoted the event in classrooms on June 6 and 7. They also gave awareness talks along with the staff of the Blood Bank.
