Panamanians celebrated World Blood Donor Day

The Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP) in Panama, celebrated on June 14, 2015, the World Blood Donor Day with a day of awareness in the San Vicente school, in conjunction with the National Blood Program of the Ministry of health. The activity counted with the participation of 65 students of 12th grade, who were motivated to donate their blood voluntarily.

An exhibition for life

Lic. Esmeralda Tuy de Lam technical coordinator of the National Blood Program, in her exhibition shed doubts and myths about this altruistic act; He also developed the dynamic “the sap of life”, which united red drops that formed the tree that is in the logo of the Integral Program “Life is in the Blood”.

Student community said “present” by donating blood

As part of the celebration, a blood donation day was held at the Universidad del Istmo Los Pueblos, where the institution's administrative staff, students and parents decided to be anonymous heroes.

The act finalized with the delivery of recognitions. Among the honorees highlighted the peace activist, Mr. Oscar Arnaez for being a voluntary and habitual donor since 1985; also Ms. Esmeralda Tuy for encouraging citizens to be blood donors.

The figures increase in Panama

The GEAP in Panama through the second component of the Integral Program “Life is in the Blood”: marathons and blood drives, promotes a culture of voluntary and regular donation of safe blood. In each activity the figures increase, and in the 5th. International Marathon, 590 Panamanians expressed: “I want to be a donor!”
