Bogotá, Colombia. Press
The highest court of ordinary jurisdiction in the Republic of Colombia opened its Session Hall (Sala de Sessiones) in the Palace of Justice, at the Plaza de Bolivar in Bogota, to a special delegation of international coordinators of the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace, judges from several Latin American countries, speakers and special guests of the First International Judicial Forum “Justice for Peace” held in that city in September 2014.
“Welcome to the Session Hall (Sala de Sessiones) of the Supreme Court of Colombia,” were the first words expressed by the President of the Supreme Court of Colombia, Dr. Luis Gabriel Miranda Buelvas and Vice President, Dr. Jose Leonidas Bustos Martinez, who personally received the abundant group led by the Global Ambassador of Peace, Dr. William Soto, Dr. Camilo Montoya, Project Development Council Director of the Embassy, and the Judges: Dr. Jenny Quiros Camacho of Costa Rica, Dr. Luis Antonio Ortiz Hernandez of Venezuela and Dr. Victor Manuel Nunez of Paraguay.
Some of the speakers and special guests of the Forum were also present, filling the Session Hall (Sala de Sessiones) of the Supreme Court of Colombia: from Mexico, Dr. Martin Ubaldo Mariscal Rojas and Dr. Jose de Jesus Naveja Macias; from Argentina, Dr. Franco Marcelo Fiumara and Dr. Daniel Rafecas; in addition to the coordinators and representatives of the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace from Argentina, Mexico, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Paraguay, and Colombia.
Formally beginning the meeting, Dr. Luis Gabriel Miranda Buelvas stated how pleased he is to welcome all participants and said that the place where they were at was built on the ruins of the building that was destroyed on November 6, 1985, as a result of the seizing that the M-19 guerrilla made and the recovery that the Colombian Army executed, and where several Supreme Court judges were murdered. “The only thing that could be completely rescued was this image of Christ Crucified, which always leads our Full Chamber (Sala Plena) meetings.
After the welcoming statements by Dr. Luis Gabriel Miranda Buelvas and Dr. José Leonidas Bustos Martínez, the participation of all those present was heard, each one with a different approach, but all designed, from a legal and social perspective, to continue to build a path of hope and peace in the world; as is the vision of the Global Ambassador of Peace, Dr. William Soto, through various campaigns and projects of the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace, particularly through the realization of the International Judicial Forums "Justice for Peace."
Finally, Dr. William Soto thanked the time and willingness of the President and Vice President of the Supreme Court of Justice of Colombia, to receive this delegation, and extended an invitation to participate in the upcoming International Judicial Forum to be held in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, in November 2014.
