Representatives of the member institutions participate to optimize the ALIUP
On August 24, 2018, the members of the International University Alliance for Peace (ALIUP) met to attend the discussion: "Innovative proposals for the strengthening of ALIUP", held in the Humanities Auditorium of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
The representatives of the institutions that participated, moderated by Vivian González Trejos, secretary pro tempore of the ALIUP, had the opportunity to present proposals that will optimize the result of the peace work proposed by the network with university youths and society in general.
Dionisio Ortega, rector of the Nihon Gakko University (Paraguay); María Concepción Flores Saviaga, rector of the Polytechnic University of Veracruz (Mexico); Luis René Arias Villarroel, rector of the Scientific Institute of Higher Education (Mexico); Rubén Pacheco Inclán, rector of the Interamerican Litigation Faculty (Mexico), took part in the discussion.
José Ramón Holguín Brito, president of the Association of Rectors of the Caribbean and the Americas - ARCA (Dominican Republic); José Guadalupe Guzmán, deputy of the Education Committee of the Honorable Congress of the State of Campeche (Mexico); Lena Vibiam Rodero Acosta, dean of the Universidad del Atlántico (Colombia), also contributed their ideas and proposals.
As well as, Domingo Alberto Vital Díaz, Coordinator of the Faculty of Humanities of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), representing the host university, and Enid Mercedes Gil Carreras, Vice Minister of University Extension of the Ministry of Higher Education participated. , Science and Technology (MESCYT) of the Dominican Republic,
GEAP initiatives
Dionisio Ortega, rector of the Nihon Gakko University (Paraguay), proposed four initiatives of the GEAP to the members of the ALIUP:
1. The commitment to implement, evaluate and consolidate the Project Chair for Peace and Happiness of the Integral Human Being.
2. That the Chair for Peace is sent to other levels of formal education, not only at the higher level.
3. That the program Educating to Remember: The Holocaust, paradigm of genocide, which the Paraguayan Congress approved through Law 6138, is proposed in other countries in order to implement it.
4. That the ALIUP supports the proclamation in favor of the Constitution of the Rights of Mother Earth through a declaration signed by the members attending the II International Assembly.
Proposals for peace in the ALIUP
José Guadalupe Guzmán, deputy of the Education Commission of the Honorable Congress of the State of Campeche (Mexico), proposed to continue working to make public policy and not depend only on the will of the authority, but on education.
María López Sepúlveda, constitutional legal director at the Azul and the Conciliation Center of the Universidad del Atlántico Colón el Azul (Colombia) expressed her interest for the ALIUP to implement the Itinerant Law Office for Peace, considering it a way to bring young people closer together to human needs.
For his part, José Ramón Holguín Brito, president of the Association of Rectors of the Caribbean and the Americas - ARCA (Dominican Republic), considered strengthening the relationship of ALIUP with international networks and the network of private institutions in the continent to convert the Chair for Peace in a relevant document.
Holguin Brito said: "I want the ALIUP to become one of the icons of the continent, since it is an institution that does not defend the interests or wills of anyone, and is applied among equals."
In the use of the word, Eduardo Carreón Muñoz, International Head Master of the Inteligencia de Educa Educa (EDUCA) and of the Continental Organization of Educational Excellence (ORCODEE) (Mexico), emphasized the importance of making use of technological tools and instruments of the internet proposing that the Chair for Peace and Happiness of the Integral Human Being is also presented in a virtual format.
After the interventions, Vivian González Trejos proceeded to submit to debate and vote of the members the different proposals formulated, being adopted unanimously.
Peace of Mother Earth
Before the proposal of Dionisio Ortega to support the Proclamation of the Constitution of the Rights of Mother Earth, the members of the network agreed to sign a declaration in recognition of Mother Earth as a living being, and adopt the proclamation in order to promote her rights.
At the end of the discussion, institutional authorities present at the Assembly received a recognition from Gabriela Lara, General Director of the GEAP, for their work and effort in favor of peace and the formation of integral human beings.

To worry about more humane beings, highlighting the role of higher education in the scope of peace and the happiness of the youth we form in educational institutions.
