Process of peace generates acceptance of the Forums “Educating to Remember”

Colombia

A march for peace was held in the streets of the municipality of Venadillo, as a prelude to the forum "Educating to Remember - The Holocaust, Paradigm of Genocide", organized by the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP).

The event was attended by over one thousand students from the Educational Institution Camila Moreno, directors, teachers, parents and representatives. The tour ended in the premises of the institution, where a photographic exhibition was installed and a video about the Holocaust was projected.

This act became a source of reflection, which allowed students and teachers to remember all the violent events that Colombians have experienced for many years. The participants expressed that there is a similarity to the genocide experienced by the Jews in World War II.

José Giovanny Córdoba in his address said: "There is a need for agents of change to emerge in Colombia and builders of peace (...) the discourse is of no use if it is not consistent with action".

The event was broadcasted by RCN's Basic News and RCN's half-day news program.
