Mexico | Youth leaders present peace initiatives for their community
With the purpose of creating spaces where young people present initiatives that positively transform their communities, the Global Embassy of Activists for La Paz (GEAP), in Mexico, held the twenty-seventh (27) edition of the Encounter of Youth Leaders for Peace, as part of the "World Youth Movement of the GEAP" Program, held at the Jacarandas Auditorium, in the city of Chilpancingo.
Humberto Díaz, Secretary of Youth and Children of the State of Guerrero, gave the words of welcome and gratitude to GEAP for the work they have done with young people in the country.
A participatory society
The activity was attended by more than 900 young people from different educational institutions, civil associations and the first lady Mercedes Calvo, representing the Integral Family Development System (DIF) in coordination with the Secretariat of Youth and Children of the Warrior status.
The Symphony Orchestra of the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace contributed to the Encounter by performing several pieces of music in the frequency of 432hz. The folklore group Huatliche, an original music group and the Montemayor trio, also participated.
Selene Rodríguez, youth representative of the GEAP, in her speech mentioned: "It is important to involve young people in the commitment we have to society in different areas.
Commitment of youth
Clara Montemayor, member of the OSEMAP, began the keynote speeches with the theme "Music as a method of integral education, within the educational worldwide system".
Lastly, Francisco Luna, assistant visitor of the Human Rights Commission of the State of Guerrero, participated with the theme "The importance of educating on Human Rights issues".
In addition, peace activists presented the GEAP programs:
- International Alliance of Universities for Peace (ALIUP).
- Justice for Peace Program.
- International Program "Children of Mother Earth".
- Comprehensive Blood Donation Program: Life is in the Blood.
- Educating to Remember Program.
Collaboration agreement
10 institutions signed collaboration agreements with the GEAP to participate in each of the programs developed for the improvement, well-being, happiness and peace of the human family and Mother Earth, promoting the formation of the integral human being.
Finally, Giovanna Urióstegui, young leader of Chilpancingo, addressed the closing words inviting young people to join the different jobs and future meetings of the GEAP Youth Movement, in Mexico.
