The Association of Rectors of the Caribbean and the Americas (ARCA) held on May 18 and 19, the event "Meeting of Higher Education Leaders of the American Continent", in the Hall of events of the Hard Rock Hotel in Panama City .
This event was attended by representatives of the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP) and José Ramón Holguín, executive president of the Association of Rectors, University Organization member of the International Alliance for Peace (ALIUP).
The meeting was attended by representatives of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, the United States, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and the United States.
Development strategies
The meeting was convened in order to strengthen the knowledge among the participants, exchange experiences, explore opportunities for cooperation and define development strategies, as well as establish collaboration agreements.
During the day, they mentioned the Innovation Model for University Transformation and the e-Tech Solutions project, which offers virtual simulation engineering applied to education.
GEAP programs
The representatives of the GEAP in their participation presented the programs and projects executed by this institution in more than 20 countries. On his part, Ariel Cerrud, national coordinator in Panama, spoke of the Peace Integration Summit (CUMIPAZ) held in Paraguay in October 2016.
He also invited attendees to the third edition of the CUMIPAZ to be held in the city of Panama this year 2017.

Agreements for a culture of peace
The GEAP in this meeting of university rectors established 19 agreements of incorporation to the ALIUP of universities and institutes of higher education that operate in countries of the American Continent, among them, the Organization of the Americas for Educational Excellence (ODAEE).
The directors of the Association of Rectors of the Caribbean and the Americas, ended the event with the presentation of acknowledgments to the attendees. In addition, they made the GEAP a special distinction for the work they do in favor of the human family.
In Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, on November 16, 2016, the executive president of the ARCA, José Ramón Holguín, met with the executive president of GEAP, William Soto Santiago, to sign a collaboration agreement between the institutions.
The agreement was consolidated on March 17, 2017 at the meeting of rectors "Education for Peace", where 14 educational institutions (basic, middle and high) joined the ALIUP.
