Opening ceremony of the Second International Judicial Forum at the University of Buenos Aires

Convened by the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace, experts in the areas of international criminal justice, genocide, terrorism and violation of human rights, meet again in an academic and legal framework, to lecture, review and create a course of action in order to give continuity to the project "Justice for Peace" promoted by Dr. William Soto Santiago.

The grand  Salon de Actos of the University of Buenos Aires received parliamentarians, judges of High Courts and Courts of Justice, lawyers, academics, diplomats, journalists, students and the general public from Bosnia, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Israel, Paraguay, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Argentina; each one interested in participating in the creation of constructive critical thinking about the international criminal policy, which is one of the objectives of the project "Justice of Peace", carried out by the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace.

After honoring the Argentinian nation with the glorious notes of their National Anthem, they proceeded to the formation of the presidium table, consisting of the Global Ambassador of Peace, Dr. William Soto of Puerto Rico; the Honorable President of the Constitutional Court of Colombia, Dr. Luis Ernesto Vargas Silva; Dr. Daniel Rafecas, Federal Judge and Professor at the University of Buenos Aires; and the coordinator of the Free Chair on "Holocaust, genocide and discrimination" of the University of Buenos Aires, Dr. Gregorio Flax, who, in the name of academic staff, offered welcoming remarks expressing his satisfaction on how this Second Forum is being executed at his University, one of the most emblematic universities in Argentina; and urged the participants to continue promoting these forums in their countries and other regions.

The Global Ambassador of Peace, Dr. William Soto, formally declared the Second International Judicial Forum open, thanking the University of Buenos Aires and the University of La Matanza of Argentina for the support in the realization of this academic and legal event and, in turn, making a request to the participants: "Your contribution, honorable magistrates and ministers of High Courts in Latin America, as well as lawyers, academics and students with us today, will be definitive to achieve and perfect the New Proposals for the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide."

They immediately continued with the installation of the First Table of lectures, discussions and proposals in this International Judicial Forum, moderated by the diplomat and expert in Law and International Relations of Venezuela, Julio Cesar Pineda.

It is worth noting that the Second International Judicial Forum takes place just weeks before the Assembly of States Parties of the Rome Statute (legislative and administrative body within the International Criminal Court), meet in New York in December.

The Global Embassy of Activists for Peace, along with its manager and founder, Dr. William Soto Santiago, are promoting the creation of such areas of academic and legal debate, with great respect to the actions of multilateral international justice, and as an altruistic contribution to ongoing improvements and upgrades that international legal instruments need to contribute peace between peoples and nations.
