"Traces to Remember" is Introduced to Costa Rica’s Vice President

With the objective of introducing the project "Traces to Remember" into the field of education, the international directors of the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace met with the Vice-President of Costa Rica, Dr. Alfio Piva Mesen, and the Deputy Minister of the Presidency, Gustavo Alvarado Chavez.

During the meeting, Dr. William Soto discussed the goals of the project and its impact in schools and universities.  He also expressed that one of the goals of the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace is to educate present and future generations, raising awareness about the consequences of discrimination and intolerance in order to ensure that crimes are never committed against a group of people due to their racial, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, or religious identity again.

Regarding this, the Vice President stated that it is necessary to teach about genocides, especially the Holocaust, because there is currently a lack of knowledge about the subject among youth, and one cannot allow such a dark, impacting event to be forgotten. He pledged his support to include the project through youth movements, and added that during his administration, he has worked to encourage the protection of fundamental human rights among the Costa Rican society.
