Blood Donation in Guatemala continues to be a necessary and habitual work in health centers
Promoting a culture of voluntary and habitual blood donation in young people and adults, at the Pedro de Bethancourt National Hospital located in Antigua Guatemala, Sacatepequez, a marathon of blood donation was held on Thursday, February 26 of this current year, an event promoted by the international campaign Life is in the Blood of the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace (GEAP), which counted with the participation of 42 volunteers and achieved a total of 35 safe blood donations.
Members of the hospital, family members of patients in need of this vital liquid, university students and Activists for Peace came to this campaign, who altruistically donated blood as an example of humanitarian work. The Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance also supported this event.
Days before this marathon, as part of the awareness work, the activists conducted a promotional campaign aimed at students, visitors and staff who work at this hospital.
The Global Embassy of Activists for Peace in Guatemala is preparing for the 5th International Blood Drive Marathon, it is noteworthy that, basically, the hospitals of the country are a great representation, in the health field, to achieve successful figures during these marathons. The collaboration of public and private entities is equally necessary to integrally benefit a great part of the Guatemalan population who needs it.
