European Citizens joined the “Life is in the Blood” campaign
Spain was the European country where the Global Embassy of Activists for Peace carried out the 4th International Blood Drive Marathon, along with coordinators, activists, health centers, mass media and volunteers from Madrid, Tarragona, Salou and Barcelona. During October and November 2014, a total of 1,750 effective blood units were collected, surpassing the amount collected during the marathon in April, 2014.
With the installation of 13 mobile units belonging to the Blood Bank of Teixits, the Hospital of Bellvitge and the Red Cross, citizens had the opportunity to participate in an act of solidarity and love for their neighbor during these drives. At the same time, the people received information about this altruistic act, receiving a positive response from the population, which became part of the international campaign, “Life is in the Blood”.
The media supported this campaign, disseminating information through the radio, television and press, where activists made known the importance of being a volunteer blood donor, allowing many people to show up and demonstrate their love for thy neighbor.
